What Are Invisalign Clear Aligners?

Straighter teeth make for a more beautiful smile and often result in better overall health. Crowded teeth or a poorly aligned bite can create future dental issues that can have serious health consequences and can be costly to fix. For a healthier smile, our practice is thrilled to offer Invisalign orthodontics to teens and adults in Allen, TX. Invisalign clear aligners work through a sequence of removable, nearly invisible teeth aligners for a less noticeable appearance than traditional braces. Find out if Invisalign treatment can work for you by setting up a consultation with our team of experts at The Dentist of Allen.

Adults and teens who desire a less noticeable solution than traditional metal braces may be ideal candidates for Invisalign clear aligners. This solution can be well-suited for resolving malocclusion (an overbite, open bite, crossbite, or underbite), a narrow dental arch, overcrowded or crooked teeth, or gaps between teeth. Fixing these conditions may improve jaw function, comfort, and speaking and eating abilities. Clear aligners are also easier to remove from the mouth, letting Allen, TX teens and adults enjoy their favorite foods without limitations. These aligners also care for the teeth without bulky appliances getting in the way. During your visit to The Dentist of Allen, we will take dental x-rays and provide an evaluation to help determine if Invisalign clear aligners are an ideal choice for your smile.

Invisalign clear retainers are an excellent option for many of our Allen, TX patients who are looking to benefit from the following:

  • Achieving a straighter, more aligned smile
  • Correcting small orthodontic issues, like straightening or biting
  • Providing a discrete, removable orthodontic option
  • Getting the smile you have dreamed of quickly

What Should I Expect from Invisalign Orthodontics?

The amount of time required for Invisalign treatment to straighten your teeth will vary according to your goals and needs. However, the majority of adults and teens use their removable Invisalign aligners for 1 – 2 years. At the end of your treatment, it is critical to use a set of custom retainers to prevent your teeth from shifting. Special Vivera® retainers are developed with the same comfortable, clear substance as the teeth aligner trays and are custom-designed in the Invisalign lab. Once they are delivered to The Dentist of Allen, our staff will tell you when you should wear your retainers and how to take care of them. We will continue to assess the positioning of your teeth and your bite during routine exams.

The time required for Invisalign trays will differ according to a patient's unique cosmetic goals and needs, but most individuals use their clear, removable teeth aligners for 1 – 2 years. When your treatment is complete, it is critical to keep your teeth in place by utilizing retainers. Custom-made retainers are fabricated with the same comfortable material as the teeth aligner trays and are designed in the Invisalign laboratory. After they arrive at The Dentist Of Allen, a member of our staff will let you know when you need to wear your retainers and ways to take care of them. Dr. Kim will continually monitor the alignment of your teeth and results during your regular dental visits.

I've been a patient since I was a kid and enjoy coming in for my appointments. The hygienists, dentists and front desk are always really friendly and easy to talk to. Check in/out is easy and I love that you can text the front desk for appointments.

I have been going to The Dentist of Allen for 10+ years now. Before that I bounced around to probably about 10 different dentist for the 10 years before I found them. The staff is always great, they communicate well, and the doctors have always taken great care of me. When I met my wife she switched over to The Dentist of Allen and she refuses to go anywhere else. Great place that has been serving the residents of Allen for a very long time.

Very welcoming environment. Emily is the best hygienist ever! She always provides a very thorough cleaning. She is so personable, kind, and knowledgeable. I appreciate the care and honesty from all staff I’ve interacted with. They are also flexible and have easily accommodated me when I’ve needed to reschedule or push an appointment back. Would definitely recommend this place to a friend!

About Us
How should I clean my Invisalign aligners?
For optimal results, your Invisalign aligners should be worn for the vast majority of the day and night, but they will also need to be cleaned often. The preferred way to clean the trays is with lukewarm water and Invisalign Cleaning Crystals. There may also be other cleaning tablets or formulas available that are applicable for cleaning your aligner trays.
Will Invisalign aligners affect my speech?
It is possible that you may experience a slight lisp or difficulty speaking when you first start wearing your Invisalign aligners. However, most people adjust to the aligners within a few days and their speech returns to normal.
Do I need to wear retainers after my Invisalign treatment plan?
To maintain your results most effectively, yes, The Dentist of Allen recommends wearing Vivera retainers that are uniquely formulated for your mouth after your time with Invisalign aligners is done. While your teeth may look straighter than you’ve ever seen them after your time with Invisalign aligners is over, your teeth could still shift if you don’t wear a retainer for a period of time after Invisalign.
