Dental implants have revolutionized the field of restorative dentistry, allowing patients who are missing one or more of their natural teeth to restore form, function, and health to their mouths while achieving naturally attractive smiles. However, some patients are not good candidates for conventional implants because they lack sufficient jawbone density. Thankfully, All-on-4® dental implants by Nobel Biocare™ have made it possible for more patients than ever before to be eligible for dental implants. This extraordinary system uses just four implants to support a full-arch of dentures.
If you are missing any or all of your natural teeth, Drs. David Bishop, Robert Kim, and Kris Koelker at the Dentists of Allen may be able to restore your oral health with All-on-4® dental implants. In many cases, we can restore the implants right away, so you can enjoy new teeth after just one office visit. The All-on-4® Difference
Dental implants are small titanium posts that are surgically embedded in the jawbone. In this way, dental implants serve the purpose of a tooth root, and provide unparalleled support for crowns, bridges, and dentures. All-on-4® is an advanced type of dental implant system that relies on only four implants that are placed at specific angles in the jaw to maximize bone tissue support. As a result, All-on-4® implants can even benefit patients with poor bone density who are disqualified from other types of dental implants. What’s more, the All-on-4® may make preparatory procedures for dental implants, such as bone grafts, unnecessary.
Your All-on-4® procedure will begin with a consultation with our dentists to determine your candidacy. If All-on-4® is a suitable procedure for you, on the day of surgery, you will first be made comfortable with a local anesthetic or form of sedation. Next, your dentist will create small incisions at the gum line and drill into your jawbone. The implants will then be inserted at an angle to create a stable hold for your restorations. Once the implants have been placed, a temporary set of artificial teeth can be immediately attached, so you will not have to go without teeth for any period of time. After about six months, the implants will have completely fused to the jawbone. At this time, you will return to our office to have your customized, permanent denture attached.
